Bouche speciality coffee in Brussels

Coffee is the gasoline of life; It is undeniably one of the most beloved beverages to have ever existed. Nothing beats the aroma of a freshly brewed hot cup of coffee and the froth that sits on top. Especially when you are away from the warmth of your home, it's the first thing we look for, wherever we go. Although the list of specialised coffeeshops in Brussels is not the longest, we still managed to find the one that really caught our attention in terms of flavour and texture.

As we reached there, we found out that, located on rue Namur in the upper town of Brussels, Bouche café, has been serving delectable coffee since September 2021. Despite being a year old, it appears to flawlessly blend the true vintage vibe of coffee with the modern concept.

An elegant interior

The space is just the perfect fit to feel cosy and intimate. And Bouche is not only a destination for coffee enthusiasts, but also for those with an eye for the beautiful. You won't see anything out of place. In fact, you'll find the perfect coffee aesthetic, which is so pleasing to the eyes.

The art and architecture by Ana Laborie are so elegant and sophisticated. The ceilings are high, with a magnificent natural stone countertop and, most importantly, an elegant white La Marzocco coffee machine. The curving walls enhance the entire room's modern style, giving Bouche a more refined appearance than other specialised coffee shops.

Tasting uniqueness in a cup

Antoine, the founder of Bouche, wanted to create a space where coffee lovers could meet and engage and share the love. So he did, by putting a second counter in the middle of his coffee shop where the barista could make a tasting. We got the opportunity to taste it with Antoine himself, who had us try a variety of coffee beans from various years, which he preserves at a precise temperature to assure freshness and rich vibrancy. At Bouche, we realised that coffee is a form of art that is consumed, and that each experience is unique and special. It made us understand the coffee craze a little more.

And after a very specific ritual by Antoine, our cups were finally filled with perfection, with a delicate yet powerful taste. Antoine certainly knows more about coffee than most people, explaining all he can to help you comprehend what you're experiencing and where it came from. But what we truly loved was the one-on-one experience, which seemed like an enriched and delicious wine tasting. As they mentioned, "This second counter focused on a personal experience, a particular moment when you can question your barista why he does such and such things and learn a bit more about our craft."

Boutique & food

Some coffees were served in fanciful and vivid cups created and manufactured in Brussels by Frizbee Ceramics. If admiring those cups at Bouche isn't enough for you, make sure to grab your own from the Bouche boutique area. The coffee shop also offers a sweet counter with baked cookies, banana bread, and other treats. During lunch, however, it also serves a savoury mini menu with seasonal items or even sourdough French toast for those with a sweet tooth, which certainly adds more flavour to the shop.

Bouche is unquestionably a must-see when in Brussels. The design, the insight, the coffee, and the food are all worth its enormous success. Furthermore, the location is incredible, allowing you to sit peacefully to clear your mind or roam around and see this lovely city while sipping on one of the most amazing coffee. It's all an experience in itself.
